The real benefits to Google Voice in terms of privacy are the ability to carefully craft how you reveal your physical location to others. But Google has a mixed record at best as far as privacy goes so I went over the privacy policy of Google Voice to see what kind of privacy issues are raised good, bad or ugly. It can also be an important way to prevent tax liability when you are traveling outside of the tax free states. This can be a good tool to protect your privacy by cloaking your actual physical location.
I have recently started using Google Voice on a limited basis. There is a modern application that can provide a similar benefit.
